GPT-Live-1.1 adds 13 voices and new accents to ChatGPT

OpenAI began rolling out GPT-Live-1.1 and GPT-Live-1.1 Quip on October 15. The update adds voice options for French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Mexican Spanish, plus an English voice called Bubbie. OpenAI says accents sound more natural and search status messages are more varied. Availability depends on account and region, and API access was still to come.
The Neuron’s review points out what is missing: no public comparison for speech recognition, instruction accuracy, or language-learning results. OpenAI’s system card also reports mixed safety findings, with no significant regression in real-world audio prompts but declines in several synthetic categories. Natural delivery can make an answer sound more reliable without making the content more correct.
What you can do with it
Try the same spoken task in two languages and with one interruption or changed instruction. Score transcription, task completion, correction count, and whether the final answer follows the latest request. Do not use voice as an approval path for actions that need a visible confirmation.
Our take
The product value is better turn-taking, not a new proof of voice reliability. The missing comparison data matters for teams that need names, numbers, or changed instructions captured correctly. Use voice for low-risk work first and keep a written review step for anything that leaves the chat.
