ChatGPT adds virtual try-on and saved shopping lists

OpenAI's October 1 release notes add two shopping features to ChatGPT. Users can select a Try on control for clothes or accessories, take or upload a selfie, and generate a preview with ChatGPT Images. They can also save products in Favorites or folders. The reference photo is kept for future try-ons and can be changed or deleted in Settings.

For builders, the feature turns image generation into a repeatable shopping flow rather than a one-off prompt. The important product work is the control around the reference image: where it is used, how long it stays, and how clearly the user can remove it.

If you build a similar flow, test the full loop on mobile and web. Measure whether the preview helps a user keep or reject an item, then verify delete, replacement, failure, and consent states before adding more shopping actions.
