Google will migrate Gemini Gems into skills

TechCrunch reports that Google will retire Gemini's Gems and move them into a skills format on 17 November 2026. Google says users will not need to rebuild their custom assistants, and Gems remain available until the migration date. The change shows how quickly consumer AI products can replace their own naming and workflow layers.
