Deezer announced a user-controlled toggle that will remove fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search before the end of 2026. The company says its detection tool has already excluded more than 42 million AI-generated tracks from algorithmic and editorial recommendations and tagged more than 14 million albums. Deezer also reports receiving nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day, which can exceed half of daily deliveries on peak days.

The product choice is simple for listeners but difficult for the service. Deezer must identify fully synthetic music without hiding songs that use limited AI assistance inside a human production. The company cites an Ipsos study in which 45% of streaming users wanted a full filter. Builders working with generated media can copy the visible control: label the content, state what the filter removes, let people switch it off and record false positives. Trust improves when the rule is clear and reversible.

What you can do with it

If your product serves generated media, build a small content setting with three states: include, label and hide. Explain the rule in plain language, let users change it, and sample decisions for false positives. Track complaints, repeat use and search changes instead of treating a classifier score as final.

Our take

Deezer is making an AI-content choice visible to the user instead of burying it in a ranking system. The detection and survey numbers are company-reported, but the feature gives other media products a concrete pattern to study. The key product work is a clear definition of fully generated content and an easy way to change the setting.
