Revolut plans agentic shopping inside its AIR assistant
Sifted reports Revolut plans to add shopping actions to AIR, its in-app financial assistant; builders should specify approvals, spend caps, merchant identity, and audit logs before an agent can buy.

Sifted reported on October 9 that Revolut plans to give its AIR in-app assistant agentic shopping capabilities, as Meta's shopping agent raises competition. Revolut's current help page describes AIR as an assistant that can track spending, manage subscriptions, explore travel, and take actions in the app; access is rolling out gradually. The shopping announcement does not give a public date, country list, or developer API.
This is a move from advice into payment intent. A chat assistant can answer a product question; a shopping agent must choose a merchant, price, delivery terms, and payment path. Revolut's earlier product work on agentic checkout and its existing financial controls are useful context, but they do not prove that a general shopping workflow is available to every customer.
For builders, the important interface is the approval record: what the user authorized, the maximum spend, the merchant and item selected, and how the user can cancel. Treat this as a reported product direction until Revolut publishes access and transaction rules.
What you can do with it
If you build commerce software, prototype a read-only shopping assistant first. Add explicit approval, per-order caps, merchant allowlists, receipt storage, and cancellation before connecting a payment rail. No public shopping API or rollout date was listed in the accessible report.
Our take
Shopping is a meaningful test for agents because a bad answer is cheaper than a bad purchase. Revolut's direction is worth watching, but the product is not ready to copy until access and transaction controls are public.
