Seventeen countries endorse the Kyoto Vision for AI in science
The United States and 16 other countries have endorsed the Kyoto Vision for an AI-enabled golden age of science, according to a White House release. The declaration came from the 23rd Science and Technology in Society Forum in Kyoto and frames AI-enabled science as shared infrastructure.
The proposals include wider access to compute, data, and experimental facilities; new funding models; better measurement of scientific progress; and stronger technical talent pathways. The document also calls for cooperation on scientific workflows, metascience, and systems that can turn AI-assisted ideas into tested results.
This is a policy signal, not a funded programme. It sets no binding delivery deadline and commits no specific pool of money. The test is whether governments turn the principles into shared datasets, laboratory access, compute programmes, or measurable research projects.
