Hestus raises $7.4M to put AI inside mechanical design

Hestus announced a $7.4 million seed round on October 2, led by Insight Partners with Chalfen Ventures, Rock Yard Ventures, Garage Capital, and others participating. The San Mateo startup says the funding will support hiring, model development, and product rollout; an earlier $1.5 million pre-seed brings total funding to $8.9 million.
The product is an autocomplete-style assistant inside Autodesk Fusion that suggests design actions as engineers sketch. That focus matters because a manufacturable part must respect dimensions, geometry, and production constraints, not only look plausible. Hestus says more than 5,000 engineers use its tools.
Watch the gap between the shipping sketch assistant and the company’s wider Mechanical Intelligence plan. A useful test is whether suggestions reduce accepted design work without creating new review or manufacturing errors.
