At Capcom Open Conference RE: 2026, programmer Satoshi Ishida presented plans for the RE Engine. The Verge reported that Capcom wants to integrate AI into development workflows and move the engine gradually toward a future in which teams create games with AI. Capcom has previously said it will not use AI-generated assets in its games.

This draws a practical boundary between using models to speed production and using generated material in the shipped game. For studios and toolmakers, the main design question is where AI can reduce repetitive work without weakening authorship, testing or asset provenance.

The next useful signal will be a named workflow, not a slogan. Watch for tools that assist code, testing or content operations inside RE Engine, and look for evidence that they improve cycle time without shifting review work to artists and programmers.
